TL;DR: "It's pretty good!"

Pros

- Truly amazing audio design, crisp audio lead to an over all better enjoyment of the game as it made actions feel more impactful

- weapons feel punchy and powerful, This is a great feeling, though it does lead to one thinking a weaker weapon is more powerful then it is

- screen shake in game adds a lot to the impact of the weapons, and the chaotic nature of the game, making the intensity and suspense feeling more apparent

- controls feel crisp, never did i feel like i should have been able to move somewhere and was arbitrarily not allowed

- recoil was surprising, usually in top down shoots its implemented in a slightly different way, usually an aim cone, but i noticed i had reproducible recoil if i shot in the same speed rate, leading to a higher level of play for long term players, this is far better implementation then games where they simply increase your inaccuracy based on the shots fired.

- solid sandbox of weapons and power ups, everything you would expect is here, and a more. nothing i've seen has felt out of place or unneeded. everything in the sandbox fills out the game's mechanics quite well. Some AAA games struggle with this concept, its nice to see an indie game succeed with it.

- faithful 2d adaptation of of a classic game, all the way down to specialized rounds.

- it's a pay what you want! how could you go wrong with that.

Cons

- tabbing out of the game doesnt auto pause,

- 15+ seconds between starting the game and having any control of your character, maybe allow control of the player in this cut scene or shorten the time

- some menu buttons are uninformative, a tool tip would be a nice touch.

- overly shaky text in menu screen makes it hard to read on large screens

- no visual or audio feedback for actively repairing windows, leads to new players thinking it's just a press f, instead of hold f, leading to nothing happening

- east/west facing doors are a little hard to see, took me several minutes to realize they exist, and could definitely see a player thinking they are stuck because they dont see it, could likely be rectified is the doorway was just inlet a little into the wall, (the carpet helps a bit but easy to over look it in combat)

- by round eight it was already taking roughly 6 clips from the makarov to down a single zombie, though power scaling makes sense this also lead to the double barrel being nearly unneeded by the time i got it (round 6).

Ultimately think the game is really solid, though its feedback could use a little polish as it's only in alpha 0.4.3 at the time of writing, it's a really solid foundation for expansion. There are no cons which are impactful enough not for a recommendation. Try it!

thank you for this fantastic comment/review!

I’m planning on pushing an update out that actually fixes most of your listed cons although I do not have a current release date!

I’m glad you enjoyed it ^w^

Looking forward to it!

very fun game i keep playing to try and beat my high score (which is 34 if you can beat me leave a reply)

i go shooty pew pew as a cat so immediate 10/10

just a few comments
- option to increase brightness would b super nice
- i feel like fixing barricades is almost useless, further in to the game it's easier just to stand somewhere like near the elevator and let the hostiles come to you and pewpew them
- the shield feels very inconsistent when i use it, sometimes it blocks and other times it doesn't i feel like there should be some sort of durability on it too
- being able to buy more ammo from the shop for guns that arent on the wall (maybe at an increased cost tho)

overall fun game i keep playing yaya :3

ty so much :D

option to increase brightness would b super nice

I’ll look into adding some accessibility options :)

i feel like fixing barricades is almost useless

Fixing barricades is just meant to be an early rounds feature to make some extra points

the shield feels very inconsistent when i use it, sometimes it blocks and other times it doesn’t i feel like there should be some sort of durability on it too

the shield def has some issue that ill look into but it does have durability :)

tysm for your amazing comment ^w^

I like the game. However there are a lot of things i think could be better. I will be listing some Pros and Cons allong with some suggestions.

Pros

I think the Weapons feel good to fire and making all of them piercing makes it rewarding to line up enemies to blast them all at once.

You can only carry 2 weapons at once which means you can have very varied builds (this would be better with more uniqe weapons.)

Cons

The overall pace of the game feels a little slow but that might be just preference

You have to kill all enemies before the next wave starts which can make it annoying as you have to run around the map trying to fing them (Maybe consider making them despawn if there are only a few left and they are off screen)

All the weapons are pretty similar which makes me not want to upgrade past the 3rd weapon

It would be nice if the current task was somewhere on screen

The grenades are really hard to use well as they take a long time to detonate

also tiny bug i found: when you change what device is the audio out without restarting the audio doesnt work. Is really irrelevant tho.

I would also consider scrapping the thing where you can buy ammo because you get so many of the all ammo filling items.

I also had a hard time finding the next objective which was made worse by the quickly disappearing objective message.

Overall i think the game is pretty fun but maybe a little slow for me. I think the game would profit greatly if there were more varied weapons and enemies. The Weapons feel nice to use and the piercing creates a rewarding game mechanic however this does not make the overall boring weapons more fun to use.

ty for this amazing comment :)

you can press tab to how the current task
and you can also shoot grenades to make them instantly explode :D

For the ammo issue I just made it more likely to spawn for this demo

I will def make more interesting weapons and make each weapon feel somewhat different to use

ty for taking this time to write that comment ^w^

I recently updated and would love some feedback :D

hey, I'll give you a feedback as if it was a Steam review (sorry if it's too harsh)

my overall impression is that it's a little too close to CoD

a lot of the features seem exist just because CoD has it

unless you're really making a CoD zombies clone, then that's fine

here are some nitpicks :

  • most of the weapons feel the same, the only noticeable difference is whether it's auto or manual or a spread shot or piercing

it makes sense in CoD that they have many weapons because it's an mp shooter game

but does it really needed here?

I would prefer a few selection of weapons where they all serve a different purpose

instead of having many weapons where they all behave the same way

  • I couldn't read the damage text, they are too dark too read and disappear too fast
  • too many and too strong screenshakes, having the screen shaking during reloading seems unnecessary
  • the objective list disappears too fast

here are some suggestions :

  • a hp bar would be helpful
  • aiming should make the player can see more outside the centered camera instead of just having a smaller crosshair
  • make the interact range a bit bigger for the pickups

I had to move into a specific position to pick them up instead of just getting close to them

some bugs I noticed :

  • the melee and the pistol have no cooldown so you can fire them really quick
  • shotgun bullets would decelerate if you shoot them horizontally
  • you can have 2 weapons at once and you would basically dual wielding (very cool)

I only got it by an accident by firing a weapon and buying a different one at the same time

but I still enjoyed it and played it for about an hour

I've only played WaW zombies so idk how the newer games behave

tysm for the feedback its most appreciated!

the goal is to make a game similar to cod zombies but make it a more "standalone" game

I'll take all your great suggestions into mind and ty for the bug reports

I'm glad you had fun ^W^
